Emergency Relief for Morocco Earthquake Victims

On September 8th, 2023, the Al Haouz region of Morocco was hit by a 6.8 magnitude earthquake. Close to 3,000 lives were lost. Overnight, 50,000 homes were destroyed leaving about 300,000 people homeless.
Amal began emergency relief efforts from day one, and is continuing to provide support to affected populations to this day.

DONATE TO EARTHQUAKE RELIEF

You deserve to be here

Amal creates a community around a common thread: we believe in the power of good food to change lives, to bring people together and nurture body and soul. Our students are at the heart of everything we do, and we have built our organization around them, their needs and their aspirations.

In addition to gaining a solid set of cooking skills, we want every student who goes through our training program to know that beyond the shadow of a doubt you deserve to be here. You deserve to be here at Amal, here at your new job, here in society, and here on earth, taking up space and time and resources.

Nourishing Hope,
Rewriting Narratives

We combine a successful training program for women who want to become chefs, with a popular restaurant and catering service.

"We value women’s knowledge and sense of intuition, the incredible know-how that is passed down among women in Morocco."

“Our group loved visiting the Amal Center's Cooking Class! Not only was the food absolutely amazing, but we got to learn how to cook it in a fun open atmosphere that allowed us to learn about Marrakech from some of the women that work in the center. We got to hear about their struggles and hear how much this organization means to them...By choosing to visit and take their cooking class, you are helping to empower the women of Marrakech!”
“Authentic and tasty home-made Moroccan food. It is a non-profit association that trains disadvantaged women in the art of gastronomy. I went on a Friday and had a couscous with chicken and vegetables very well prepared, with fresh ingredients, which was delicious. The service is kind and efficient, the atmosphere is cozy (with a totally positive energy), and the price is right. What a wonderful experience I had in this place!.”
“The chicken tajine they taught us to prepare was one of the best meals I ate in 3 weeks in Morocco. Learning about the services Amal offers and being able to support those services in this small way felt good.”
